Which leads me to 3 Marketing No-No's that this person committs perfectly!

1. Be Believable! Okay, so I am getting a bank deposit for 1.8M from somone who I have never met? Sure... Who in the right mind would even entertain such a notion?

2. Use Correct English! Some of these sentences I have to read twice! It is laden with spelling and gramattical errors. The sentence structure is horrible and if this was legitimate, I still would not believe it, how can someone be credible if they can't even form a sentence?!

3. Be Clear! I can tell they want me to take action to claim my money; however, the email is muttered, it is not an easy task for me to figure out what I have to do exactly. If I was born yesterday and believed this...then I still would be very confused as far as what to do. I guess I would have to send an email to that crazy looking email address they provided to find out! LOL

Anyway, I could go on and on and on about this, but I refuse waste any additional time! However, these 3 No-No's are applicable no matter what you are doing.

Enjoy your weekend!

Corn On The Rise

Corn, such a basic commodity that we probably don't think 2x about. Listening to NPR this morning, I learned that they are thinking about using corn for fuel but other nations (where there is a food shortage) are not to happy about this idea. This got me to thinking:

1. Consider how blessed we are that we have food to eat plenty. Food is readily available, and we are not straving or deprived any way. No, we don't like the rising prices, but at least we can still feed our families and none of us know what its like to starve, I mean truly to starve. Yeah, we may say "I'm starving" but if we really knew the feeling, it wouldn't be a laughing matter

2. I have said it before, and I will say it again...the gap between the rich and poor is widening. No longer will we have the middle class as we know (or knew) it.

Bottom Line: We really need to get our stuff right, or we will get left behind! Simple as that.

But it wouldn't be me, if I didn't already have some solutions. Indulge me while I share some ways that I have personally used to "get it right, so I don't get left". LOL. (Note: I am an economist by training, so I think in terms of efficiency, resources, value and all that fun stuff).

1. Pay off consumer debt! Credit cards have to go! Stop using them and pay them off. They never work in your favor. Only use them strategically, just be sure you can pay them off in full every month! Go with cards with benefits! This will work in your favor. Credit cards are not good or bad, it is what we do with them that determines the output. Which leads me to point #2...

2. Live below your means! I know you heard this a thousand times, but hear it a thousand and one times! We tend to overextend ourselves in an effort to get more and have more. Don't try to keep up with the Joneses'! They have enough debt and expenses. Don't pay more for name brands when you can get the same quality with the store brand. Don't let the kids talk you into purchasing the latest and greatest. As single moms, sometimes we may think that due to our situation (dad not there 100% of the time) that we owe our kids something. This is not true! And buying little Sam and Kelly everything will not replace an absent parent. If you find yourself in this situation, spend time with your children and don't rush out to buy the next in thing. Besides, ever bought a child something and all they wind up doing is playing with the box and wrapping it came in?!

3. Make a Top 3 List: Do you know what is like to have so many things to do and then at the end of the day, realize you only have accomplished one (or none). How frustrating is that! I learned from Simone Kelly-Brown, founder of Give N Take Network and Gots To Have It Marketing, to create a A, B, C list. It's basically your top 3 list of things to get done. Focus on knocking those top 3 out each day and you will notice an immediate difference. Often time we miss our goals because we fail to plan. A top 3 list will allow you to execute your big picture plan in small morsels.

MY OH MY...IS IT JUNE ALREADY?

It's June already! Oh my, how time flies!!! Goodness!

I wonder how the single moms are faring with the increase in gas and grocery prices. Everything just seems to be going up, up and up...with the exception of home prices. Honestly, I don't even want to know how much my house is worth...I bought at the end of the market rise but even still I am quite sure I am upside down on my loan. Aaaaaaaaaaaah!

Nonetheless, I have 3 powerful ideas that us enterprising single moms can use to shave our expenses and boost our bottom line!

They are...drum roll please...

1. Share the load- Wherever you have excess capacity considering sharing some with another. For example, advertising expenses. Create a postcard with your information on one side and the information of a complementary business on the back. You split the costs 50/50! If you take advantage of 50% off postcard offers from companies like Vistaprint...this is a steal! Click here for special deals from Vistaprint!

2. Go For Information - You have to invest in yourself and get the information that will help you grow your business. Before you vend and another event, before you pay for another ad, get the information to learn if that is the right thing for you. Remember, information stays with you forever, once you are in the know, you are good to go. Register for events such as my company's up and coming Marketing Success Conference for Women Entrepreneurs by clicking here: http://www.marketingsuccess2008.eventbrite.com/.

3. Increase Your Accounts Payable!! No, i'm not crazy! What I mean is explore affiliate programs to help you boost your own sales! You pay people if they make a sale for you. Usually a % of the total amount sold, 15%-50% I have seen, but you choose the terms. I will gladly pay anyone a % of the money they make for me! How about you?
